PhotoNote Series: Wish You Were Here

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

iPhone Diary Series

iPhone Diary: 26 March 2009

Photographs in the iPhone Diary series are composed in the iPhone camera and published without cropping. In addition to exploring the capabilities of the iPhone camera, the images seek to challenge the referentiality of photography. Although places might be identifiable to some viewers, the pictures are more about moments in time and reflections on the human condition.

PhotoNote Series: A Candle for Marie

The PhotoNote Series is part of my exploration of the limits and capabilities of the iPhone camera. Like the iPhone Diary series, photographs for PhotoNotes are published as composed in the iPhone camera frame, without cropping. The PhotoNote images are then moved from the iPhone camera roll into an iPhone app called Photo Albums, where a single sentence of text is added. The resulting PhotoNote is then uploaded to my laptop for publication or printing.
